The Blue City of Morocco has been on my bucket list for the longest time and I finally got to tick it off! The mountain village of Chefchaouen is a maze of alleyways and buildings washed in blue hues. There’s no doubt you will get lost in the charm of this place.
You don’t need a guide to take you around as it’s easily walkable on your own. Find your way in the labyrinth of alleyways is part of the fun. We spent 4 hours wandering the streets of Chefchaouen getting lost and taking hundreds of pictures that don’t do this place justice!

How to Get There
It takes around 3.5 hours by car from Fes (see my city guide here). We hired a private driver to pick us up at 6:30am from our hotel, recommended by a very nice lady we met in the customs queue at Fes Airport. We had one pit-stop along the way for some food and he dropped us off at the entrance to the village and waited for us at a car park while we explored.

Fresh OJ Stand
Make sure to visit this cute juice stand for freshly squeezed orange juice on Calle Mezquita. We had to ask several locals before a very kind elderly man showed us the way! Everyone we came across in Chefchaouen was genuinely friendly and willing to help with directions.
